“The fruit of the righteous is a Tree of Life, and he who wins souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30 (NKJV).

The souls of men have always been the Heartbeat of God. The Lord expects the Church to win the lost at any cost hence, no price is too high to pay for the salvation of men to be enforced (Matt. 13:44-46). The Lord Jesus Christ paid the Ultimate Price that God may obtain mankind as His Ultimate Prize (Jn. 3:16). In view of this, there is a need to obtain the required wisdom and strategy for each missionary endeavour.

While describing his strategies for missions, Apostle Paul gave a remarkable wisdom tip that is apt for all involved in the mission field: “When I am with those whose consciences bother them easily, I don’t act as though I know it all and don’t say they are foolish; the result is that they are willing to let me help them. Yes, whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so that he will let me tell him about Christ and let Christ save him.” 1Cor. 9:22(TLB).

Meditate on this for a moment: Whenever a fisherman wants to catch fish, he sets a bait on the hook. The bait is usually what the fish likes rather than what the fisherman likes. In other words, the missionary target determines the missionary strategy needed because the trap set for a monkey can’t be the same trap set for a donkey. Wisdom requires us to find common ground with each soul we are targeting in order to grab their attention. This is one of the reasons the Scripture admonishes us to “condescend to men of low estate” Rom. 12:16b (KJV).

Fulfilling the Dominion Mandate is less about sophistication and more about strategy. For instance, from our Bible reading in Acts 17, Apostle Paul understood the importance of strategy when he arrived at the idolatrous city of Athens, therefore, he was quick to leverage on their recognition of “the Unknown God” while preaching at the Areopagus in Athens (Acts 17:22-23). This was what the Lord Jesus had in mind when He told His disciples; “For I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist (Lk. 21:15). What He said to them He still says to us today. There is still wisdom for effective soulwinning.

Father in Heaven, we worship You today. O Lord, please grant us the wisdom and strategy to win the souls You have brought under our care in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
