“How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of Peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV).

It is God’s Perfect Will for everyone to be saved and benefit from the gains of Redemption (Rom. 10:1; 1 Tim. 2:4). However, the Missionary Mandate of the Church requires a collaborative effort in order to be fulfilled. This collaborative effort is referred to as the Triangle of Missions.

Before His Ascension into Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ commissioned His disciples: “And He said to them: “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature” (Mk. 16:15).

The Triangle of Missions refers to the three distinct job descriptions in a Missionary Endeavour which gives a definitive outline of the Dynamics of Missionary Activity:

(1.) The Missionary: This is the Going Unit or the Army (Ps. 68:11; Rom. 10:14). These are the ground troops who actually go into the field to win souls.

(2.) The Intercessor: This is the Praying Unit or the Navy (Isa. 62:1-7). These are the submarine troops who stand in the gap praying the souls into the Kingdom.

(3.) The Financier: This is the Funding Unit or the Air Force (Zech. 1:17; Rom. 10:15). These are the airborne troops who give financial backing to the missionaries in the mission field.

Everyone who is sent is empowered for his God-given Assignment. A wise man once said that, “There are two types of preachers i.e., those who were ‘sent’ and those who ‘went.'” The Missionaries are sent spiritually by the Intercessors and financially by the Financiers. May our eyes remain open to this missionary collaborative effort in Jesus’ Mighty Name.

Our Most Gracious and Heavenly Father, we thank You for giving us a missionary outlook. Please help us emerge as missionaries, intercessors and financiers from Your Church in Jesus’ Name. Amen
