DEVELOPING A KINGDOM MINDSET

BIBLE READING: 1SAMUEL 2:35; NEHEMIAH 4:6; MATTHEW 6:33

“But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the Things of God, but the things of men” Matthew 16:23(NKJV).

Having the right mindset in every situation is one of the most important factors for successful and effective Christian living. The Bible makes us understand that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. (Prov. 23:7) In other words, a person’s life always travels in the direction of his most predominant thoughts. Our thoughts are the offspring of our perception or mindset, hence it becomes imperative for us to have a Kingdom Mindset as representatives of the Kingdom.

A mindset could be defined as “a habitual or characteristic mental attitude which determines how one interprets or responds to situations.” In other words, your mindset or mentality determines your outlook in life. It serves as a mould from where your thoughts are cast. The Scripture declares: “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the Knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the Obedience of Christ.” (2Cor. 10:4)

Pause and meditate on this: You can cast OUT demons but you can only cast DOWN philosopies, ideologies and arguments shaped by the wrong mindset. A Kingdom Mindset requires a comprehensive Kingdom Perspective. Simply put, every thought, word and action must be preceded by this mentality: How does this positively affect the Kingdom and Agenda of God? That was what Jesus had in mind when He rebuked Peter. (Mk. 8:31-33).

Your mindset shapes your values which in turn shape your priorities and principles. Only believers who develop a Kingdom Mindset end up becoming assets to God rather than liabilities. (Matt. 25:14-30) Join the army of sold out Christians who seek the Kingdom of God above all else.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, to You alone we ascribe all the Glory. O Lord, please help us cultivate the Kingdom Mindset that our priorities may change in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
