BIBLE READING:1TIMOTHY 4:13; MATTHEW 22:31; ECCLESIASTES 1:13; MATTHEW 7:7; PROVERBS 17:16
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” 2Timothy 2:15(KJV)
God has always derived Glory from situations whereby His children exert themselves in seeking and searching out the Provisions He has made available for them: “It is the Glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” Prov. 25:2(KJV) In the same vein, He constantly hides His Precious Jewels from the unqualified, hence Jesus said in the Scripture: “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine…” (Matt.7:6) In other words, treasures and precious things should not be left in the open or given to those who don’t qualify for them but rather should stay hidden. (Matt: 13:44). They are hidden so that those who don’t know the true worth cannot access it because they will waste it or trample on it. It’s a great tragedy to waste or destroy precious things.
This then begs the question: If it is hidden from those who will not appreciate the value or true worth, how then would those who know and appreciate such find it? The next verse of the same Matthew chapter seven has the answer. It says: “..seek and you shall find..” The only way to qualify for precious things that are hidden from many is to pay the price to search for and seek them out till you find them. That process of seeking, searching and researching is what study is all about. You use books, the internet, audio materials etc, to carry out this royal task of study. Solomon said it’s the task or labour that God has given to all men. (Ecc. 1:13). Unfortunately, not many are willing to pay this price. Little wonder they are doing without the good things that God has already provided.
One of the most precious things with God is knowledge, because every other thing depends on it. God said His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hos. 4:6), not lack of money or anointing. It is knowledge that brings money, anointing, and every other thing good you are looking for. The Scripture says “…through knowledge shall they just be delivered.” (Prov. 11:9). The Bible also says that “the lips of knowledge are precious jewels.” (Prov. 20:15). It is impossible to overemphasize the importance of knowledge which is alluded to throughout the Scriptures:
“And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” (Prov. 24:4).
Let us labour more in diligent study, (seeking and searching out knowledge and insight) because every other labour is futile without it.
Father Lord, please give us an awareness and hunger for the Precious Jewels and Unsearchable Riches that You have laid in store for us and grant us the enablement to diligently search and seek them out in the place of study in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
