EXERCISING DOMINION WITHIN

BIBLE READING: 1CORINTHIANS 9:25; ECCLESIASTES 7:9; GALATIANS 5:23; PROVERBS 23:2

“Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint.” Proverbs 25:28(WEB)

The Lord God Almighty created Adam in His Image and after His Likeness. (Gen. 1:26-27) In other words, mankind whether male or female has a Divine Mandate to reflect God’s Personality and Functionality here on Earth. The sheer enormity of this responsibility dawns on the spiritually sensitive on a daily basis as the Day of the Lord fast approaches, hence the Scriptures state emphatically: “Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness…” (2Pet. 3:11)

However, the sad reality is that several Christians labour to do without what they ought to have being doing within ab initio. In other words, the exercise of dominion must take place first within a person before he can exercise it in his territory. Apostle Paul said “But I discipline my body and keep it into subjection, lest when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” (1Cor. 9:27) The King James Version says “I keep my body under…” This implies the taming of and lording over of the sensual appetites. Nobody can truly be said to be in control until he has self control. Temperance is definitely one of the most important virtues of spiritual leaders. (1Tim. 3:2)

He that would lead others must have the ability to lead himself first. This requires meekness which isn’t weakness but rather strength under control. The Bible refers to such people when saying “A bruised reed He will not break and smoking flax He will not quench…” (Matt.12:20) The Lord grant us grace to have dominion within that we may be genuine authorities without.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, we glorify Your Holy Name. O Lord, please help us begin our leadership journey from within as we exercise dominion over our sensual cravings in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
