BIBLE READING: ROMANS 13:11-14; GALATIANS 5:16-23; 1JOHN 2:18
“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now our Salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” Romans 13:11(KJV).
This is a very important question which every living being should answer bearing in mind Eternity in perspective. There is life beyond this realm. Just before you close your eyes and won’t be able to open them, what would you be doing? (Jam. 4:13-15) Following Paul’s answer to the titular question would give us the inspiration to prepare well so as to finish strong and well.
Knowledge of the times we are in would help one to do the needful: Fulfilling God’s Vision for His Kingdom. (Acts 20:24) The knowledge and understanding that we are in the last hours of the End Times should spur us on.
God’s children must always be spiritually ready and cast off the works of darkness (Lk. 12:35) We must utilize the awareness of this Last Hour as an “acceptable time”, the time favourable to seeking God with all our hearts as supported by the following Scriptures: “But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou seek Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” Deut. 4:29(KJV)
“Seek the LORD, and His Strength: seek His Face evermore. Ps.105:4(KJV)
“Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near. Isa. 55:6(KJV)
In view of this, your daily devotion must be consistent and fervent. This is also an acceptable time to pray like never before: “For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Lk. 11:10(KJV)
It is also the acceptable time to increase your time of devotion. If you’ve been praying for one hour, it has to be increased to two or three hours. Likewise studying the Bible and other necessary relevant Christian books. There’s also the need to live a consisent life of consecration and being intentionally committed to the Things of God as well as asking for Divine Help and Divine Preservation. (2Tim. 4:18; Isa. 41:10; 50:9).
During our last hour, there is a need to awake out of sleep and unto moral and spiritual virtues. There is a need to cast off the works of darkness. No spiritual darkness should be associated with children of the Light. The works of the flesh should be put off as we live the Crucified Life, (Gal. 2:20; Gal. 5:19-21) ensuring that God will enlist us as His vigilant spiritual watchmen. (Isa. 62:6; Jer. 6:17; Ezek. 3:17) We must remain strong in the Lord as we win souls for Him, (Isa 52:1) putting on the Robe of Righteousness (Isa. 61:10) and living a life of total obedience to the Word of God as well as living and walking in the Fruit of the Spirit. (Gal. 5:22-23)
Heavenly Father, help me to fulfill all Your Plans and Purposes before coming home in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
