BIBLE READING: 2TIMOTHY 2:5-8; 1TIMOTHY 4:15
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2Timothy 4:7 (KJV).
The richest place in the world is not the oil wells of Saudi Arabia or the Niger Delta but the grave yard for therein lies great potentials of men that existed in this world which were never fulfilled. Potential is what you can do but have not yet done. It is also what you can become that you haven’t yet become.
God’s Plan for everyone is to die empty, releasing every single potential, i.e., gifts, talents, etc., He deposited in us for our generation. When Jesus was hanging on the Cross, He said, “It is finished” (Jn.19:30), not “I am finished.” The word “it” refers to His Divine Assignment/Purpose in life. In another place while giving the account of His Stewardship on Earth to the Father, He said, “I have finished the work which You have given me to do” (Jn.17:4 NKJV).
As believers, we must strive to discover, prepare and fulfil our Divine Calling “For faithful is He that calleth You, Who also do it” (1Thess. 5:24).
The Scripture admonishes Archippus (you can put your name there instead) to ensure that he takes heed to the ministry which he has received in the Lord, that he fulfils it (see Col. 4:17). Therefore, one of our uttermost desires as believers should be to hear “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” (see Matt.25:23).
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of counting us faithful and putting us in ministry/service. We ask for Enabling Grace and Wisdom to fulfil it in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
