BIBLE READING: 1KINGS 6:7; ISAIAH 48:10; MATTHEW 14:14-21; JOHN 6:1-13
“And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to Heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His Disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all.” Mark 6:41(NKJV).
The world today is in dire need of transformation. Terror and corruption in its different forms have permeated the very moral fabric of our society and the Church isn’t left out (see Isa. 60:2).
Part of the problem is that many believers are in a hurry to shine as lights whereas they must first of all become salt i.e., agents of preservation, purification and seasoning because the Lord Jesus Christ has raised us as believers to become agents of transformation as both the salt of the Earth and the light of the world:
“You are the salt of the Earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven” (Matt.5:13-16).
Salt is often unseen due to being hidden in the obscurity of the soup but its relevance is tasted. Between the promise and the promised land lies the process.
The Bible tells us that John the Baptist was hidden in the wilderness until the time of his revealing to Israel (see Lk. 1:80). Using Mark 6:41, our main Scriptural Text as a reference point, there are four major stages in the making of the man that God will use:
- The Taking Stage— “And when He had taken….”: This is the entry or input phase where the Lord delivers us from the grip of the enemy (see Col. 1:13).
- The Blessing Stage— “He looked up to Heaven, blessed….”: This is the initial integration or empowerment phase where He reveals to us our New Creation Realities i.e., who we are in Christ, what we have in Christ, what we can do in Christ, etc (see Philem. 6). This is actually the first part of the process phase.
- The Breaking Stage— “and broke….”: This is also known as the wilderness phase and the second part of the process phase where God proves or tests us through various types of suffering (1Pet. 5:10). This helps to authenticate the Blessing within and upon us because it is the same fire that melts wax that refines gold.
- The Giving Stage— “and gave them to His Disciples to set before them….”: This is a blend of the output and outcome phase where we become Gifts from God to our generation (see 1Pet. 2:9). At this stage, the man of God becomes a Showcase of His Glory, “thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2Tim. 3:17).
Heavenly Father, to You alone we ascribe all the Glory. O Lord, please grant us the grace to go through every Stage of Your Process that we may become an expression of You to this dying world in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
