And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” These are the Words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” Exodus 19:6 (NKJV).

It is no news to the discerning believers that we are already living in the Last Days. In view of this sobering truth, the Bible admonishes we Christians to redeem the time or make the most of every opportunity for the days are evil (see Eph. 5:16). There is a demand from Heaven for the emergence of an Authentic Priesthood after the Order of Melchizedek (see Heb. 6:20) which has all the strengths and none of the weaknesses of the Aaronic Priesthood.

In the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John the Beloved, a very crucial piece of God’s Counsel regarding our priestly assignment on Earth was made ever so evident: “And I looked, and behold, in the Midst of the Throne and of the Four Living Creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though It had been slain, having Seven Horns and Seven Eyes, which are the Seven Spirits of God sent out into all the Earth.” Rev. 5:6.

Notice part of Jesus the Lamb’s Description: having Seven Horns and Seven Eyes. The former represents the Perfect Kingdom while the latter represents the Perfect Priesthood with both merged into One Unique Ministry i.e., that of the Lord Jesus after the Order of Melchizedek. (see Heb. 7:17). Put in a different way, horns are symbols of Dominion and Authority while eyes are symbols of Priesthood and Ministry (see Zech. 4:8-10). As disciples or followers of Jesus, we are called a Kingdom of Priests with a bilaterally accurate assignment to the Church and the society (see Acts 17:16-17).

The onus lies upon us as Christians to rise up to our Dual Responsibility as priests who minister in the Temple and kings who administer in the Marketplace like King David (see 2Sam. 23:1-2). Priests are agents of revival while kings are agents of reformation. The Lord grant us the Wisdom to strike the balance in the discharge of our Divine Mandate.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for raising us as kings and priests unto our Lord Jesus Christ. O Lord, please grant us the Wisdom and Grace to become effective two-edged swords in Your Hands in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
