BIBLE READING: ECCLESIASTES 4:12; 1 CORINTHIANS 3:11; 1 PETER 3:1-7; 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14-16; EPHESIANS 5:22-33
“In a marriage relationship, there is authority from Christ to husband, and from husband to wife. The Authority of Christ is the Authority of God.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 (MSG).
Marriage was the very first Institution that the Lord God Almighty established upon the Earth. It is therefore no surprise that right from the Garden of Eden, there has been a relentless wave of attacks from the kingdom of darkness on the Biblical Norms of Holy Matrimony (see Gen.3:1-7). However, every marriage which has the Lord Jesus Christ at its centre will stand when others around are failing and falling like a pack of cards.
The foundation of every society is the family unit and the foundation of the family unit is the marriage covenant (see Gen.2:18-25). Having said that, the Foundation of the marriage covenant is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (see 1 Cor.3:11). Simply put, every successful marriage is that which has Christ as its Bedrock and Core.
The world may have its own ideas and preconceived notions about marriage. Multitudes over the years, including professing Christians, have compromised the integrity of the marriage covenant even to the point of accepting gay unions all in the name of political correctness “but from the beginning it was not so” (Matt.19:8b NKJV).
People are still trying to change the narrative and shift the goal posts but only marital unions built upon Christ the Solid Rock stand the test of life for “the Scripture cannot be broken” (Jn.10:35b NKJV). In other words, it is only Christo-centric marriages i.e., those orbiting around Christ Jesus and His Principles, that attract His Endorsement. This is so because He will only preserve an Institution where He has Vested Interests. As we enter into the marriage covenant, may we embrace both the Principal and His Principles that we may become principalities.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the miracle of Holy Matrimony. O Lord, please grant us the grace to keep You at the Centre of our marriages at all times in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
