BIBLE READING: EPHESIANS 6:1-3; HEBREWS 12:5-12
Then Isaac answered and said to Esau, “Indeed I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants; with grain and wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now for you, my son?” Genesis 27:37(NKJV).
God gives us Fathers to take us further. They shorten our days in the wilderness when we submit to their instructions and corrections and also honour them. A fatherless generation never returns from the battle field.
God gives us Fathers to guide us through their wealth of wisdom and experience through the wilderness into our God Ordained Promised Land. The Scripture in Exodus 19:4 declares, ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself’. The eagle’s wings God was referring to here was Moses as a father figure.
Fathers carry an inheritance which is Spiritual and when you tap into it, it will start manifesting in your life through exploits, wisdom, dominion, etc. This inheritance is provoked through Submission and Honour and then the patriarchal blessing is released through pronouncements (see Gen. 27:1-4). It was Jacob their father that shaped the destinies of the 12 tribes of Israel (see Gen 49:1-28).
In one of our recommended readings titled, ‘The Testament of the Twelve Partiachs’, Judah admonished his sons that he was obedient to his father in everything and honoured his mother and his father blessed him, saying, “Thou shall be a king, prospering in all things”. And the Lord at that moment began to show him unsual favour, he began to do great exploits such that he killed a lion and removed a kid from its mouth, he killed various wild animals with his bare hands, stones and rocks. He was valiant in battle and single handedly conquered giants and kings besides forming alliances with his brothers to destroy cities and kings that threatened them with death.
Ask God to grant you the spirit of humility and obedience to submit and honour your spiritual and natural fathers in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
