“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy. Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” Hosea 10:12 (NKJV).

What exactly is a revival? A revival refers to a great spiritual awakening or a fresh outpouring of the Rain of the Spirit upon a community or nation. There is one Holy Ghost Baptism but many infillings of the Holy Ghost (see Eph. 5:18).

Before Jesus ascended into Glory to sit at the Right Hand of the Father, He instructed His disciples to “Tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with Power from on High.” (Luke 24:49). In obedience to the Instruction of our Master, they tarried in prayer and fasting and when the Day of Pentecost was fully come, the Holy Ghost rested upon everyone of them, each of them with cloven tongues of fire (see Acts 2:1-4).

Revivals tarry because of a lack of urgency and fervency in prayer. The Scripture makes us understand that “The effectual fervent, heart felt, continued prayer of the righteous makes tremendous power available.” (James 5:16b AMP). The King James version says, “availeth much.” Prayer is an earthly license for heavenly intervention. God will not intervene on Earth without man’s invitation which is fervent prayer which is usually backed up with fasting.

Another reason why revivals tarry is when believers no longer create the time to wait upon the Lord (see Isa. 40:28-31). Also, revivals tarry as a result of a lack of genuine repentance ( 2 Chron. 7:13-15). Repentance is a 180-degree turn. It is only after you confess and forsake sin that you can obtain mercy (see Prov. 28:13).

The first key message every time there is a Divine Visitation is Repentance. The Lord Jesus, in Matthew 4:17 said, “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.” We cannot be living in our old, wicked and sinful ways and expect a genuine revival. In Exodus 19:10, God told Moses to prepare and sanctify the people today, tomorrow and on the third day, He would appear to them on mount Sinai. The Lord God Almighty is of Purer Eyes than to behold Inquity. The Scripture declares that, “The Foundation of the Lord standeth sure having this Seal, “the Lord knoweth them that are His,” and that “whosoever nameth the Name of the Lord depart from inquity.” It is time to set ourselves apart for His Holy Purposes through the Ministry of the Blood through repentance and the Sanctifying Power of the Holy Spirit.

God is calling us back to the Secret Place where we seek His Face and not just His Hand. The psalmist said, “He that dwells in the Secret Place of of the Most High shall abide under the Shadow of the Almighty” (Ps. 91:1). Travailing Prayer is one of the keys to birthing the Plans and Purposes of God, for as soon as Zion travails she brought forth Her children. God has promised us through the Scriptures about the Last Days Revival and an Outpouring of the Spirit (see Joel 2:28-32), combining the Former and Latter Rain (Compound Rain). God is looking for men and women who will partner with Him in birthing the Last and Final Move of His on the Earth.

O Lord, please grant us a burden for prayer and passion for the Lord’s House and to count us worthy to be part of this End-time Revival in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
