BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 32:12-15; JOEL 2:28-32
“Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the Latter Rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone.” Zechariah 10:1 (NKJV)
The world we live in today is in dire need of a fresh outpouring from Heaven. Carnality and worldliness have become the order of the day, whereby the moral lines are being blurred with alarming consistency. Little wonder the Lord Jesus Himself said, “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matt. 24:12). The moral tide of society is regulated by the moral tide of the Church, hence the need for another Great Awakening to occur within the House of God.
The Bible repeatedly sets the tone for the Move of God throughout the ages. James the Lord’s brother was inspired to write accordingly:
“Meanwhile, friends, wait patiently for the Master’s Arrival. You see farmers do this all the time, waiting for their valuable crops to mature, patiently letting the rain do its slow but sure work.” (James 5:7 MSG). Carefully take note of the last phrase: “patiently letting the rain do its slow but sure work.” The Rain of Revival when released upon a thirsty people does a slow but sure work. A Ripple Effect is created when the Spirit of God moves upon the face of the waters. (see Genesis 1:2). Revivals throughout history followed the same trend, from the Welsh Revival to the Asuza Street Revival: there was a slow but sure work involved which spread the Influence of the Holy Spirit all over the world.
The Scripture assures us that, “If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the Earth.” (Eccles. 11:3a). In other words, the onus lies upon us as priests to take up our intercessory ministry and “seed” the Heavenly Clouds, thereby precipitating the Outpouring of the Rain of Revival. Achieving a lasting transformation in a nation without a genuine revival is indeed a Herculean task. The Lord release His Rain upon us in a Mighty Way.
Father in Heaven, we humble ourselves before You today. We open up our hearts to receive Your Rain of Revival. Thank You for a Fresh Outpouring of Your Spirit in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
