BIBLE READING: HEBREWS 3:7-9
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the Mind of the Spirit is, because He makes Intercession for the saints according to the Will of God. Romans 8:26-27(NKJV)
The Lord made the Heavens, the Earth and everything therein, and Scripture says that God’s Creation was exceptionally good. “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So, the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31.) The Trinity gave particular attention to Man in the Creation Story by virtue of the role They intended to have him play while exercising dominion on the Earth – “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our Image, according to Our Likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So, God created man in His own Image; in the Image of God, He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27). This Man made in the Image of God is a god. (see Psalm 82:6) and fearfully and wonderfully made in the Image of God.
We established yesterday that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person in the Trinity, and since man was made in His Image, then the Holy is no less a Person that exercises the features of a Man. Man is a spirit, has a soul and dwells in a body. The soul of man comprises of his mind, will and emotions because God intentionally did not want to create Robots but entitities who can exercise discretion and choice in any given situation. Man has exercised these innate capabilities as evidenced in the choices he made in the Garden of Eden by eating from the Tree of Good and Evil that led to the demotion and loss of Man’s dominion on Earth. Since Man is made in the Image of God, the Holy Spirit Who now lives in a man has the Same Features of the man that is made in His Image.
The Scripture is a more Sure Word of Prophecy which has been tried and trusted, confirming that the Holy Spirit is a Person and has exercised certain Features of a Rational Being as opposed to the misconception of Him not being a Person. We have now highlighted some instances below:
(1.) The Holy Spirit Moved men to write: “For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2Peter 1:21).
(2.)The Holy Spirit directs Church Affairs: “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” (Acts 13-2)
(3.)The Holy Spirit can be grieved: “But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit;
So He turned Himself against them as an Enemy,
And He fought against them.” (Isaiah 63:10).
The Scripture is replete with Evidence of the Personality of the Holy Spirit. It is important to understand the Holy Spirit’s Nature and His Mind because you cannot take full advantage of what you do not understand in the Kingdom. Take time to search and study the Scripture, so you can understand the Person of the Holy Spirit to enable you maximize His Mind.
Father, I thank You for the Gift of the Holy Spirit. I receive Grace to study and maximize the Advantages and the Treasures from the Person of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
