BIBLE READING:1CORINTHIANS 15:50-58; MATTHEW 28:1-8; LUKE 24:1-7
“Whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.”(Acts 2:24)
The Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is central to the Christian Faith. Today we preach an Empty Tomb because death could not hold Him captive. Our Saviour stated this Truth emphatically to Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos: “I am He Who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” (Revelation 1:18) Hallelujah!Jesus is alive and remains Lord over all after being “the Firstborn from the dead that in all things He might have the Preeminence.” (Colossians 1:18b)
The Significance of the Resurrection can never be overemphasized. As powerful as Creation was, the Power expended then pales in comparison to the Power of the Resurrection. During Creation, there was absolutely no resistance whatsoever from the kingdom of darkness. However, the entire forces of hell combined during those three days and three nights in an attempt to keep the Lord subdued in Captivity. But Glory to the Name of the Lord, the Resurrection Power was too much for them to handle. The Scripture makes it clear, saying “But if the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:11) The same Jesus Who was raised from the dead is the Resurrection and the Life (see John 11:25), giving life to every dead situation that may threaten to overwhelm us.
In a bid to officially endorse Aaron as High Priest after the rebellion of Korah, the Lord instructed Moses to place the former’s dry rod in the Ark of the Covenant. By the Power of His Glory,. Aaron’s rod budded and produced almonds i.e. an impossible situation (see Numbers 17). That is simply astounding. Nothing dead survives the Power of the Resurrection. When the two angels asked Mary Magdalene and the rest of the women “Why do you seek the Living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5b), the Heart of our Faith was being addressed. Buddha is dead. Mohammed is dead. Every other major religious founder is dead. But not Jesus Christ our Lord, Who “is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.”(Luke 20:38b)
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to die upon the Cross and for raising Him up again from the Dead. Because He lives, bwe can face tomorrow.Thank You for this in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
