BIBLE READING: MARK 11:1-10; LUKE 19:28-38; MATTHEW 23:37-39
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is Just and having Salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9(NKJV).
Yesterday was celebrated by Christians worldwide as Palm Sunday, marking the beginning of the Holy Week. Also known as the Passion Week, these were the Last Days of the Earthly Ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ before paying the Ultimate Sacrifice upon the Cross. This Highly Significant Event was the First Trigger of the Redemptive Plan of God whereby the Son of Man came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). In other words, the Climax of the Redemptive Programme of God was activated by the Triumphant Entry of the Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. Because of His Mandate of Redemption, the Scripture tells us that; “…we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
One key factor to note from the events of Palm Sunday is that the Passion Week began with a Triumphant Entry and ended with a Triumphant Exit from the Grave after three days and three nights. Put in a different way, the Journey to the Cross and beyond was a Journey of Triumph. Meditate on that for a moment. No wonder Apostle Paul stated emphatically:
“Now thanks be to God Who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the Fragrance of His Knowledge in every place.” (2Corinthians 2:14)
Father in Heaven, we thank You for always causing us to triumph in all things by the Sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. We exalt You for we are more than conquerors in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
