BIBLE READING: HEBREWS 1:3; PSALM 36:9
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the Glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same Image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2Corinthians 3:18( NKJV).
The world today is in dire need of Authentic Christianity. Apostle Paul refers to genuine believers as “an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the Living God…” (2Cor. 3:3a). In other words, we are meant to be the embodiment of the gospel that unbelievers have ready access to. However, this places a responsibility upon us to experience transformation as we become changed into His Likeness.
The sad reality amongst many Christians today is that our witness has become largely ineffective due to the fact that we don’t really spend quality time with the Lord. Put in a different way, you can only represent a person you know. This was the heart cry of Apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Church in Philippi:
“That I may know Him and the Power of His Resurrection and the Fellowship of His Sufferings, being conformed to His Death.” (Philippians 3:10).
The term “know” in the aforementioned Scripture is derived from the Greek word “ginosko” which literally means “knowledge obtained by intimate experience.” This knowledge is obtained whenever we spend quality time in worship and prayer, thereby smelling of His Fragrance. Dwelling in His Presence causes us to be changed into His Likeness, thereby becoming a bodily expression of His Glory. (see Exodus 34:33-35 ).
You become Who you behold. Many Christians profess a Jesus Christ they don’t even know and it shows in their interaction with others. The greatest desire of the Holy Spirit is intimacy with us and the reverse ought to be the same. May we become the express Image of Jesus that men may see Him in us at all times.
Heavenly Father, we give You all the Glory. Give us, O Lord, the grace to tarry in Your Presence and be transformed into Your Image and Likeness. Receive all the Praise in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
