“And He said to them, how is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for me to be in My Father’s House and [occupied] about My Father’s business?”(Luke 2:49 AMP)

Every genuine disciple is like a son to his rabbi and has a duty to protect the latter’s interests. Jesus Christ our Lord did nothing apart from His Father’s Business during His Earthly Ministry and longed only to live the Purpose His Heavenly Father had for Him. Jesus said to His Disciples, “My food is to do the Will of Him Who sent Me and to completely finish His Work.”(John 4:34). At the age of twelve, He was already doing what His Father sent Him to do. Nothing could stop Jesus from doing His Heavenly Father’s Business, not even His Own earthly parents. We must be about our Father’s business.

The Business of our Father is still the same. God has been consistent in reconciling men to Himself. That was why He sent His Son to die for us and that is why the Holy Spirit is here with us on earth. The very moment we received Jesus, we were given the same Ministry of Reconciliation whereby we reconcile men to God “But all these things are from God, Who reconciled us to Himself through Christ [making us acceptable to Him] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [so that by our example we might bring others to Him] (2Corinthians 5:18). If truly we are sons, we must be about our Father’s Business and be consistently involved in evangelism/soul winning, discipleship, and also advance the Gospel with our spiritual gifts, skills, time, and material resources.

A son does not sit down and watch his father’s company collapse. A genuine son contributes to the success of his father’s company. The reason is simple: Whatever belongs to your Father is yours. Your Father’s Kingdom is yours. It is your duty to see to it that this Kingdom expands and becomes even greater. Are you doing our Father’s Business? Selah!

Heavenly Father, please help me to be a co-laborer with You. Show me what You are doing now and make me a part of it so that I can be a useful instrument in Your Hands, reconciling the lost back to You in Jesus’ Name. Amen
