“After that He gave them judges for about four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet. And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior—Jesus—Acts 13:20-23(NKJV).

The mantra of a disciple of Christ should be, “not my will but Yours.” There are times when we will be faced with situations where we have to make a decision between the Will of God and our own will. Even Jesus got to that point of decision making. When His life was involved He still surrendered to God’s Will. Matthew 26:39 says; He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this Cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I Will, but as You Will.

As disciples, we are stewards of the Will of God. God has entrusted His will into our hands which is why it is our responsibility to pray it into manifestation. Little wonder when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, after hallowing the Name of God, the next prayer was focused on the Will of God. You can see this in Luke 11:1‭-‬2 which says Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. See also 1 Corinthians 9:17 which says “For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.”

The Bible makes us to understand that we are recognised as ‘related’ to Jesus Christ when we do the Will of God. Even Heaven will recognise you. Matthew 12:49-50: And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the Will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”

Disciples of Jesus Christ would seek to imitate Him totally and He was sold out to the Will of God throughout the days He spent on earth. John 6:38-40: For I have come down from Heaven, not to do My Own Will, but the Will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Thank You Lord for Your will is forever perfect. I ask that You teach me to do Your will and remain yielded to You and Your Word.
