But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is [a]conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” MATTHEW 1:20-21(NKJV).

It’s Christmas once again, but even as we celebrate, as we wine and dine, let us not lose focus of the purpose for which Christ came into the world. The angel speaking to Joseph said ‘…for he will save his people from their sin.’ That is the reason Jesus came. That is the reason for Christmas.

Let us not lose focus but instead, let us see the season as a time to recomit and rededicate our lives to God, while we look out for others who haven’t even made the first step of coming to Jesus. Introduce Jesus to them and bring them into the fold – “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [a]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Cor. 5:18-19(NKJV).

Jesus came, so He could go to the cross. He was born as a baby so He would climb up to Calvary for us and say ‘it is finished‘ . Because He did, sin has no power over you, death has no power over you, sickness has no power over you, poverty has no power over you. Because of Christmas, we have the cross, we have the resurrection and we have victory. Hallelujah.

As we celebrate this year, let’s keep this mind. Merry Christmas to you and your household. May the Lord God bless and keep you.
