BIBLE READING: MALACHI 1:6-9; DEUTERONOMY 16: 11-17
“Let the elders who perform the duties of their office well be considered doubly worthy of honor [and of adequate financial support], especially those who labor faithfully in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain, and again, The laborer is worthy of his hire. 1 Timothy 5:17-18 (AMP).
God does not respect persons but He respects Principles. One of the Principles of God’s Word is the Principle of Honour. Another great principle to end the Year well is to end the Year applying radically God’s Principles of Honour. One of the Principles of Honour is “Honoring our Pastor.”
The Word of God is clear about the importance of showing honour to our Pastors. Honouring our Pastors implies-
(1) Holding them in high esteem, reverence and regard. “Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (NIV)
(2) Submitting to their Leadership. “Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.” Hebrews 13:17 (NKJV).
(3) Giving them Gifts. “Let him who receives instruction in the Word [of God] share all good things with his teacher [contributing to his support].” Galatians 6:6 (AMP). “If we have sown [the seed of] spiritual good among you, [is it too] much if we reap from your material benefits? 1 Corinthians 9:11 (AMP).
God Planned it that our Pastors receive our material gifts since they have continually been a blessing to us. This also brings awesome blessings into our life.
When you honour your Pastor it is God that actually receives the honour and He is the one that will Supply all your needs. “But I have [your full payment] and more; I have everything I need and am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. [They are the] fragrant odor of an offering and sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights. And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:18-19 (AMP).
It is not only at the end of the year that you should honour your Pastor, Honouring your Pastor should be a lifestyle since it is an act of obedience to God’s Word.
Some of the Benefits of Honouring your Pastor are as follows –
(1) THE BLESSING.
“The best of all firstfruits of any kind, and every sacrifice of any kind from all your sacrifices, shall be the priest’s; also you shall give to the priest the first of your ground meal, to cause a blessing to rest on your house. Ezekiel 44:30 (NKJV). The Blessing is the Supernatural Empowerment to Prosper.
Honoring your Pastor causes the Blessing of God to rest on your life and on your family. As God blesses you through the ministration of your Pastor, He expects you to honour your Pastor so that His blessings will continue to flow to you.
Prepare a Sacrificial Gift this month and give to your Pastor in appreciation of how God has used him to be a blessing in your life.
As I apply the Principles of Honour, I declare that, I will enjoy promotions and new levels. I declare that every word my Pastor has declared over my life will come to pass Speedily in Jesus Name.
