BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 14:13-21
“For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine. “If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.” Psalms 50:10-12 (NKJV).
One reason why God’s people are not able to take advantage of all that Christ died to purchase for them on the Cross of Calvary is a scarcity mentality.
Many times, as a result of the circumstances that we have been through; lack, poverty, etc., we are unable to activate our Faith to get the things we are praying to God about or believing for. Our God however, does not operate in an environment of scarcity. If you look at the things He created, you will realise that everything He made were in abundance. God doesn’t operate in the realm of not enough or just enough; He operates at the realm of much more than enough. In our text today, we see Him declare that all the cattle on a thousand of hills belong to Him, so how could He possibly lack food? When Jesus fed the five thousand, it is written that the food was so much that after over five thousand people had finished eating, the disciples still gathered an excess of 12 baskets of leftovers. That is the God we serve.
If your Father made the earth and the air you breathe in excess, the water you drink in excess, and everything in creation in excess, what makes you think He will not provide for you that thing you need? Begin to study the Word of God and get to know Him, His nature of kindness and faithfulness for yourself. Also, trust in His Power, Capacity, Character and His Nature. Then begin to upgrade your mindset to think and reason as He does. To do this, spend time on His Word till your mind is renewed, and you will begin to develop an abundance mentality which is the opposite of the scarcity mindset. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV).
Lord Jesus, please change my heart and my mind. Help me develop a mindset of abundance; a mindset where nothing is impossible. Help me to know and experience that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.
