BIBLE READING: 2CORINTHIANS 10:4-5; MARK 11:24; 1 JOHN 5:14-15
Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams] – Ephesians 3:20(AMP)
When it comes to God responding to what we ask or think, the issue is not God’s willingness to answer but that, we as God’s Children learn how to approach Him by faith (Heb. 11:6). Our Lord Jesus said to Thomas in John 20:29, “So, you believe because you’ve seen with your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing.” (MSG)
Faith is the bridge to Omnipotence. It is the bridge to the supernatural ability and Wisdom of God and all the other resources of God. God responds both to our thoughts (desires, hopes, dreams and imaginations) and also to what we ask of Him in the place of prayer.
Isaiah 45:11(KJV) says, “Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” According to that Scripture, there are 2 major methods of prayer that we can deploy to get God to respond in our situation. They are namely:
i) Commanding Prayer
In Commanding Prayer, we don’t address God, but we deploy the power of Faith to address the mountain or situation and the Power of Omnipotence is released to move the mountain but in Petition Prayer we come by faith asking God to help us with the situation.
In the prayer of Petition our thoughts (dreams, imaginations, desires) are as important as what we ask in Prayer. What we end up asking in the place of Prayer should proceed from our desires, thoughts, dreams and imaginations). Whenever we come to God in Prayer and what we are asking for conflicts with our thoughts and desires, this unsteady attitude causes a disconnect between our Prayers and the results we ought to obtain from God.
This is because, our thoughts are also a form of Prayer, therefore, we should guard our minds and put a check on our thoughts as Philippians 4:8(KJV) admonishes us, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
We should ensure that our thoughts line up with God’s Word (Thoughts) so that He can bring it to pass in our lives. Isaiah 14:24(KJV) says, “The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand.”
Your thoughts, hopes, desires and imaginations also need to be mixed with faith for them to come to pass. Faith is what materialises and gives substance to your hope. If you do not add faith to your dreams there is no guarantee that they will materialise. There are many people that have gone to their graves with their dreams.
Faith has 3 components namely (a) Believe (b) Confession (c) Action but the conclusion of Faith is action. If there is no action there is no faith. Faith without Works is dead (James 2:26). When you go beyond desires or dreams to action, you are showing that you actually believe that God will bring about the fulfilment of that dream.
• Write down your desires, dreams and goals. You can also print pictures of your dreams and place them where you will constantly see them.
• Get Scriptures that are in line with your desires and dreams, write them down and meditate on them.
• Spend time with God in Prayers, use the Scriptures you wrote down knowing that He hears and answers Prayer.
• Go into thanksgiving and praise because it is done.
