Key Scripture: LUKE:1:28-57; PROVERBS 4:13

He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Proverbs 29:1(KJV)
Many visions, dreams, purposes, and ideas are trapped on paper, note pads, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices not because they are not genuinee, but because the visionaries, dreamers, purpose carriers, and idea generators are trying to achieve them on their own. Solomon in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; counselled that, “Two are better than one, …and that a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
In Luke 1:28-57, we see an interplay of different persons and resources in achieving individual and organisational visions and goals.
An Elizabeth is a male, female, or an organization that has achieved visible, tangible and measurable results in an area of expertise in ministry, business, or career. The person or the organisation has weathered the storm in that field of endeavour but overcame them and kept the ministry or business going.
Unlike an Elizabeth, a Mary is a fresher, a newcomer, a first-timer or a start-up whose vision is impeccable, fresh, with zero margin for failure, this person or organisation can give you a textbook presentation of his or her vision in one hundred and twenty minutes but it has not been test run in the real world of ministry or business.
Both Elizabeth and Mary had awesome encounters from the same angel, with customised assignments. Both assignments were so interconnected that both of them were needed for the Messiah to be commissioned. Mary was told by angel Gabriel to consider Elizabeth her cousin for mentorship (Luke 1:36). Therefore, Mary had to take the initiative to seek Elizabeth’s mentorship since Elizabeth was way ahead of her in the fulfillment of purpose.
Mary took a three month internship at the house (ministry/business) of Elizabeth to gain clarity of her vision and dreams. She learnt the ropes, gained hands-on experience, and discovered the major pitfalls in her calling. She learnt how to be resourceful with limited resources. She did not go to Elizabeth to ask for the seven fastest keys to the top, she interned, she saw how Elizabeth overcame delays, how she handled naysayers, overcame setbacks and in the end gained high measurable and compelling success. The rebukes of Elizabeth to Mary were as sweet as her instructions. Rebukes and instructions are the tail and head of a coin, you cannot have one and leave out the other (Proverbs 4:13; 29:1).
Heavenly Father, help me to recognise the Elizabeths You have sent into my life. Help me with the eyes to see, and the ears to hear and the mind that can understand so that I may get the best out of those relationships, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
